Why I like it
The Silca Super Secret Hot Melt Wax Blend is my go-to for keeping my drivetrain silent, efficient, and long-lasting.
After racing and training with it, I’ve found it provides incredible longevity between rewaxes, even in harsh mudfest conditions, all while keeping the chain spotless without harsh degreasers.
Quick Specs
- Hot melt wax with nano-scale tungsten disulfide additives
- Race-proven efficiency and durability
- Keeps drivetrain super clean
- Works perfectly with chain waxing systems
In My Setup
- I typically rewax every 3 long rides, after any messy ride, and always before races.
- After a fresh wax, the drivetrain is silent and buttery smooth.
- I’ve raced on it through brutal muddy conditions — drivetrain performance stayed rock solid throughout.
- Cleaning is simple: a soft-bristled brush, some Muc-Off Concentrate cleaner, and a little water is all it takes.
- No degreasers needed. No greasy cassettes, no chainring grime nightmares.
Hot Waxing Made Easy
For best results, I recommend using:
- Silca Chain Waxing System — for safe, contained hot waxing at perfect temperatures
- Silca Strip Chip — for easy factory grease removal when prepping new chains
The waxing system keeps things clean and contained, and the strip chip removes any need for messy degreasing on new chains.
Who It’s For
If you:
- Want maximum drivetrain life
- Love a silent, fast-feeling ride
- Prefer low-maintenance, super clean mechanicals
- Race XC, marathon, gravel, or simply ride hard in tough conditions
…this wax will absolutely pay for itself in saved drivetrain parts and performance gains.
Notes
- Temperature matters — using a proper pot like the Silca Waxing System ensures the wax penetrates fully without running off.
- Mud Performance: It hangs in there even during sloppy race conditions.
- Longevity: You’ll notice it’s time to re-wax when your drivetrain starts to sound slightly noisier — typically after 3–5 long rides in normal MTB conditions.
