Why I like it
The Strip Chip makes prepping a new chain for waxing ridiculously easy. Instead of tedious degreasing, rinsing, and drying, you just drop a chip into your Silca Chain Waxing Pot, toss in your new chain, and let it work its magic. It strips factory grease and performs the first wax coat in one step — saving you a ton of time.
Quick Specs
- Sold in packs of 6 chips
- Each chip preps one chain
- Designed for use in hot wax
- Optimized for use with Silca Super Secret Chain Wax
In My Setup
- I crank my Silca Wax Pot to max temperature, toss in the Strip Chip, let it melt, add the new factory-greased chain, and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Then I dial the pot to minimum temperature, let it sit another 10–15 minutes, agitate for 30 seconds, and hang to dry.
- It’s only for new chains — not used chains.
- I still degrease the quick-links separately (they’re greasy too but don’t go into the pot).
- After the first Strip Chip wax, I maintain with full hot rewaxes and occasional Silca Super Secret drip wax.
Who It’s For
Anyone who waxes their chains — from beginners to racers.
It eliminates the annoying degreasing process and gets you riding faster with a better wax bond.
Notes
- You’ll get 6 chips per pack, good for prepping six new chains.
- If you’re serious about chain waxing, this little chip is a no-brainer for your toolbox.
