Lezyne Multi Chain Pliers
Compact, bombproof multi-tool with chain breaker, quick link storage, and more.

Why I like it
The Lezyne Multi Chain Pliers is the ultimate trailside insurance policy. It lives full-time in my SWAT bag and covers way more than just chain fixes: it breaks chains, installs and removes quick links, straightens rotors, pulls valve cores, and even opens bottles 🍾. I’ve used it mid-ride to remove a stuck valve core, tweak a slightly bent rotor, and shorten new chains before heading out — and it’s still going strong after 5+ years.
Quick Specs
- Integrated:
- Quick link pliers (for install + removal)
- Chain breaker
- Rotor tuner
- Valve core tool
- Bottle opener
- Magnetic storage for 2 sets of quick links
- Weighs just 61g
- Slim form factor

In My Setup
- I keep it in my SWAT bag year-round with two spare
quick links ↗️ snapped into the built-in holders.
- I’ve used it more often for maintenance and valve core issues than actual trailside chain breaks — but I trust it fully for emergency drivetrain repairs.
- Also handy for tweaking rotors post-travel or after minor bumps.
- Works great even with cold hands or gloves, though I’ll sometimes wrap it in a
microfiber towel ↗️ when gripping hard to avoid pressure points.

Why It Matters
- It’s the most versatile multi-tool I carry — and the one I’d trust to actually get me rolling again after a major drivetrain failure.
- End-game level durability: I’ve used mine for 5+ years and it still works like day one.
- Perfect for XC racers, trail riders, and anyone who packs light but wants full coverage.
Notes
- Chain breaking and quick link installs are solid — alignment is easy, and it doesn’t feel fragile.
- If you’re breaking or installing a quick link, it can dig into your palms. A
microfiber ↗️ wrap makes that more comfortable.
- Strong magnets keep quick links securely in place.
Buyer’s Tips
- Carry two sets of
quick links ↗️ : one for yourself, one to be a hero on the trail for someone else.
- If your SWAT compartment is roomy, consider wrapping it in a small cloth to avoid rattle.
- One of the few tools that’s just as useful in the garage as it is on the trail.
