Maxxis Aspen 2.4 MaxxSpeed
Fast dry to slightly mixed course XC tire. Lightweight and race-proven.

Why I like it
The Aspen 2.4 MaxxSpeed is my go-to for dry and mixed-condition XC races. Itβs crazy fast-rolling and still grips when you need it. I typically run it up front or as a front/rear combo, and it shines when speed is everything.
Quick Specs
- 120 TPI casing
- 768 grams
- MaxxSpeed compound
- Great volume for comfort + grip
- Fast rolling
In My Setup
- I run the 120 TPI version β solid puncture resistance and still very fast.
- On smoother courses, I run around 12 psi front / 13 psi rear, and up to 16f/18r for rockier terrain β always with Vittoria Airliners for insert support.
- These numbers are tuned to my weight and riding style β your pressures will differ. I recommend using the SILCA Pro Tire Pressure Calculator to dial yours in.
Who Itβs For
XC racers who want a lightweight tire that doesnβt compromise too much on grip. If your course is dry, fast, and not too chunky β this is probably your best bet.

Try the Tire Selector βNotes
- MaxxSpeed compound claims 25% lower rolling resistance β I canβt verify the number but it feels quick and grippy.
- I always ride with Vittoria Airliner inserts β they let me push tire pressure lower without risking burps or rim strikes.
