Kenda Rush Pro 2.4 SCT (120 TPI)
Fast-rolling XC tire with ample grip, superb handling, and SCT protection for rocky, technical terrain.

As of July 28, 2025, availability is limited in the 2.4” width. The link above searches Amazon for the latest listings. I’ll continue checking and will update this page as more retailers restock.
Why I like it
I’ve been thoroughly impressed by the Kenda Rush Pro. It’s billed as a fast-rolling XC tire, and yeah — it’s fast. But it’s also grippy, planted, and tough enough to handle some seriously rowdy terrain.
On my way out to the trails I noticed how quiet it is. The usual MTB tire hum on pavement? Practically gone. It’s the kind of low rolling resistance that makes you feel like you’re getting away with something.
On the trails, it corners with confidence and brakes predictably — even on Austin’s trickiest mix of limestone slab, loose-over-hard, sharp rock, and high-speed hardpack. I came off a block of racing and training in Colorado, and these were my first tires to roll on back in Texas’s punchy, techy, and tight trails. The Rush made the transition smooth.
Quick Specs
- 2.4” width
- 696 grams (lighter than
Aspen 2.4 EXO ↗️ or
Rekon Race EXO ↗️ )
- 120 TPI casing with SCT (Sidewall Casing Technology)
- Race-oriented tread design
- BRR Rolling Resistance (@ 25 PSI): 24.7w — faster than an Aspen or Rekon Race

In My Setup
- I ran the Rush Pro 2.4 front and rear, tubeless with
Vittoria Air-Liner Light inserts ↗️ at 13 PSI front / 15 PSI rear.
- Trails: Austin’s Barton Creek Greenbelt and offshoots. Consists of: fast hardpack, limestone slabs, techy punchy climbs, baby-head chunk, and dry, rough creek beds.
- These trails destroy tires (and wheels). I took some less than optimal lines. Dropped off sharp ledges. Buzzed edges. No flats. Cosmetic sidewall scuffs, but nothing that came close to losing air. The SCT protection held up perfectly.

Who It’s For
Riders looking for a faster and/or lighter alternative to a Rekon Race or Aspen, without sacrificing too much durability. If you want a tire that can roll like a world cup rocket but still handle rocks, slabs, and loose-over-hard with a good amount of confidence — this one deserves a look.

- Rolling resistance is noticeably low. Less hum on the pavement.
- Weight is an impressive ~70 grams lighter than
Maxxis Aspen ↗️ and ~120g lighter than
Rekon Race ↗️ in the same 2.4” width and 120 TPI. Theoretically this comes at the cost of puncture protection.
- Braking and cornering feel just a hair behind Rekon Race — especially on slab — but the predictable handling and supple ride quality more than make up for it.
- Tread design might handle mixed/muddy conditions slightly better than a Rekon Race due to a bit more knob spacing.
