Dynaplug Racer Pro Tubeless Plug Kit – Review & Race-Tested Setup Tips
I keep a Dynaplug Racer Pro in my SWAT box on almost every ride and in my cargo bib shorts during races. It’s light, fast, and has sealed more punctures than I’d like to admit. Here’s why I run it, how I set it up, and what makes it my go-to.
Why I Like It
I switched to the Dynaplug Racer Pro after getting tired of fumbling with sticky bacon strips and plug tools that never worked as quickly as I wanted them to. This thing is simple, fast, and works really well. I’ve plugged some big holes mid-ride with it. Most other plugs you have to reload if the first one doesn’t get the job done. Because this one has 4 loaded tips built-in, you can basically just rapid fire up to 4 plugs until the job is done.
The metal-tipped plugs shove in easily, and the fat plug style seals surprisingly large cuts. It’s also tiny and lightweight — I stash it in my bib cargo pocket next to a CO2 for instant access during a race.
How I Use It
- I carry it every ride, especially races and long training days.
- I run the standard brass-tipped plugs.
- I usually don’t race on plugged tires unless the plugs are small and in the tread — I’m more cautious about sidewall plugs.
- Refilling it with
fresh plugs ↗️ is super easy.
Quick Specs
- Dual-end deployment
- Standard brass plug tips
- Fits in bib cargo or saddle bag
- Easy plug reloads
- Works on large punctures and sidewall damage
Who It’s For
If you ride tubeless and want a tool that just works — especially in high-pressure race moments — this is the plug tool to get. It’s more expensive than bacon strip kits, but totally worth it in my book.
Pro Tip
Pick up a refill kit ↗️ when you grab one of these. When you eventually use it, you’ll be glad you did!
🔧 Dynaplug FAQ
How do you use the Dynaplug Racer Pro?
Just line up the pre-loaded plug, shove it in the puncture, and ride. No tools, no fumbling — it’s designed to work fast under pressure.
What’s the difference between the Racer and Racer Pro?
The Racer Pro has a beefier aluminum body and can hold 2 more plugs due to the threaded dual tips. I’d only run the standard Racer if you’re ultra weight-conscious. It's easy enough for a single puncture to require more than 2 plugs.
Are Dynaplugs a permanent fix?
Absolutely. I've had Dynaplugs survive the life of the tire without issue. That said, for races I usually prefer to run tires that are new or almost new and have no plugs just to minimize flat risk.
Can you reuse Dynaplug tools?
The tool? Yes. Just grab a refill kit. The tips? Not really. I recommend leaving them in the tire and grabbing new ones as needed.
