Why I like it
The SRAM AXS XO Transmission is absolutely rock solid. I’m running it on my Epic 8, and it’s been a complete game-changer compared to cable setups or even first-gen AXS.
Shifting under load is incredibly smooth — no hesitation, no quirks. As long as the chain is healthy, the axle is tight, and setup was done properly, the system just works without drama.
The real-world durability is also insane. I’ve slammed this derailleur into rocks hard enough to leave scars, but it’s never misaligned or misbehaved afterward. I would never go back to a hanger-based derailleur.
Quick Specs
- Wireless shifting (no derailleur hanger required)
- Fully integrated system design
- Rock-solid performance under load
- Race-proven durability
In My Setup
- Installed on my Specialized Epic 8.
- Setup is super straightforward — no cable tensioning, limit screws, B-screw fiddling, or bent hanger voodoo.
- Battery life is awesome — easily lasts a full week of heavy training and riding.
- I haven’t even felt the need to tweak anything through the SRAM app yet.
- Watch SRAM’s official setup video if you’re new to Transmission — it’s way easier than you might expect:

Who It’s For
Everyone.
Whether you’re racing at the front of an XC field or just want a drivetrain that feels futuristic and maintenance-free, Transmission is a major leap forward. Anything else feels like a step backward now.
Notes
- Get used to the idea that setup is easier than cable drivetrains — it feels wrong at first because it’s so simple.
- No hanger = no hanger drama. That’s worth it alone.
- Keep an eye on chain health. A bad link can cause weirdness (as with any system), but otherwise, Transmission is nearly bombproof.
