Precision Hydration PH 1500 Tablets
A no-nonsense sodium boost that pairs perfectly with high-carb mixes. Easy to travel with, race-tested, and essential for hydration strategy.

Why I Like It
PH 1500 is my go-to for pre and post-race hydration. I drink 1L with two tablets (1500mg sodium) in the 90 minutes before a race, and repeat that routine after. During races, I aim for ~1100mg sodium/hour, so I use one tablet (750mg) per bottle to supplement my Skratch High-Carb mix ↗.
I’ve had a sweat test done (turns out I’m mid-salty but a high-volume sweater), and these targets hold up well for me. Compared to plain water, I definitely feel more hydrated after drinking PH 1500. It absorbs better, and on race day, that really matters.
Quick Specs
- 750mg sodium per tab (PH 1500 strength)
- Low-flavor, light taste
- No carbs — mix with any fuel source
- Includes potassium, magnesium, calcium
- Portable tubes for race day or travel
In My Setup
- I always pre-hydrate with 2 tabs in 1L before races and do the same post-race.
- During a race: I usually run two bottles — one with PH 1500 + Skratch High-Carb (see my bottle pick ↗), and the other with just PH 1500, paired with gels to mix up carb sources.
- They travel well — I throw a tube in my backpack so I can hydrate consistently on the road.
- They even help the mix dissolve better when combined with Skratch, thanks to their fizz.
Tips
- These don’t add any carbs, which makes them ideal for dialing in sodium without messing with your fueling.
- You can absolutely overdo sodium, so experiment in training — don’t try a new dose for the first time mid-race.
- PH 1500 blends easily and doesn’t foam or get sticky like some flavored electrolyte mixes.
Who It’s For
Any endurance athlete or MTB racer who needs high sodium intake for hot races, high sweat rates, or serious efforts. If you’re using Skratch High-Carb Mix ↗, PH 1500 is an easy way to bump sodium levels to where they need to be.
Alternatives
- LMNT is solid for everyday hydration but the flavored ones tastes pretty strong to me - they also have unflavored options.
- Nuun? Not enough sodium. Plain salt? Lacks the supporting minerals.
- Making your own mix might be worth it eventually for me, but PH 1500 is dead simple and race proven.
